The "By The Players" program is an annual program that allowed a select group of players on a Basketball Team an opportunity to work in collaboration with Under Armour to design unique alternates uniforms that represented their class or group.
Each Summer, our product line managers and I met with 4-5 players (often prospective Seniors) in a special meeting & discovery talk to put together a uniform that not only made a statement, but was signature & authentic to their specific program. From 2014-2023, the Northwestern Wildcats Men’s Basketball Team was a part of this program and I had the pleasure to lead this charge from collaborative ideation to final product for three of those seasons (2019, 2022-24).
The "Chicago’s Own" Uniform, marked the "By the Players" uniform for the 2022-23 season.
Color Coded Labs - Visual Brand & Identity Design
Working in collaboration with the team at Blk Hack & Venture Suite, I was tasked with developing a visual identity for the Color Coded Labs, a tech & computer coding education program with an emphasis on empowering people of color with in-demand tech skills.

The "Unity x Go Dark" Uniform, marked the 3rd edition of the annual "By the Players" uniform for the 2022-23 season.
For this season's design, players within the Wisconsin men's basketball program worked to create the look in representation of diversity & inclusion. During the summer of 2020, current and former Badger student-athletes publicly stated their desire to wear the university's "Crest W" on their athletic uniforms. The "W" in the crest is white, but was changed to black on UW athletic uniforms during the 2020-21 season in a showing of solidarity with the Black community and other underrepresented communities on campus, during the tumultuous season.
This charge for Unity, Equality & Solidarity at Wisconsin was championed amongst the Basketball and became the primary force behind the 2022-23 By The Players uniform. Paired with that story concept was the following:
- Black uniforms (a first in Wisconsin Athletics history)
- Black “W” University Crest aesthetic played throughout custom Wordmark & Number System (crest also featured on the back of the jersey & shooting shirt),
- Pinstripes: adorned in gold and made signature by including the words "EQUALITY, UNITY, WISCONSIN FORWARD" within the striping.
UTAH Football - Special Rose Bowl Logo (2022 + 2023)
The Univ. of Utah's reached out to our UA design team for a special "Rose Bowl" Helmet Decal to commemorate the program's 1st ever trip to "The Granddaddy of them all". This sleek illustrated Rose & custom "Double U" Block Logo was selected as the official mark for the Utes "Rose Bowl" Game on New Year's Day 2022.
The mark quickly became a fan favorite, extending well beyond the field into retail, fan gear, accessories and more... culminating with it's use the following season for their 2nd-straight Rose Bowl trip in 2023.

As a seasonal Graphic Designer, I worked aside the Director of Creative Ballpark Ops, preparing the Cincinnati Reds' Great American Ballpark for their 2015 MLB All-Star Season Campaign.
Contributed in developing marketing and promotional materials ranging from Posters and Programs (Print & Digital) to Environmental Graphics, Vendor & Wayfinding Signage, and an MLB All-Star branded Living Wall (1st in MLB History).

In honor of Notre Dame Football's 1st ever trip to the College Football Playoff, our design team at Under Armour created special CFP uniforms, keeping the classic look, but dialing it up with gold-plated trimming to highlight the monumental moment. "Rush 4 Gold" became the fan slogan and marketing mantra for the Fighting Irish's quest for a National Championship.
On field, Rush 4 Gold was embroidered on the collar of the Game Jerseys, and the locker room included a special player exclusive Under Armour "Rush 4 Gold" box equipped with the brand's latest athlete recovery gear & accessories. Off the field, Rush 4 Gold extended into retail fan gear, as well as both Notre Dame & UA brand social media marketing.

December 11th, 2021 was one of the Best Christmas Gifts ever. This Day meant a lot, as my brother DerRon and I were able to attend the 2021 Army vs Navy Game @ MetLife Stadium, along with my Dad by our side as a Tribute in a really special way.
My Father, Roosevelt M. Turner passed away earlier that year on April 8th, and was a Navy Veteran, himself (USS Saratoga CV-60), so being that I had the opportunity to design that year’s NAVY vs ARMY Uniform, I reached out to my marketing team at Under Armour to score three (3) Seats for the big game... one for both my brother & I, and one for my Dad right in the middle of us, where we placed two of his old Navy photos during the game.
The reveal of NAVY's Unis was a bit tough for me knowing that over the past few years my Dad would always ask if I designed the NAVY Unis for the Army/Navy Game, and up until that year it wasn’t the case. I had always worked on Special Game Sideline packages, but not official Football Uniforms. Then finally, I had the opportunity to step in & design the 2021 Navy Uni and my Dad never got the chance to see it. But knowing my Father, he loved everything I did and was always one of my biggest supporters… so I’m sure he loved these! And being able to Celebrate my Dad with my Brother at one of the Biggest Spectacles in Sports, all in his honor, with his fellow Servicemen & women all around… what a blessing. Nothing topped it!

Every Summer, Under Armour Next ELITE 24 brings together 48 of the nation's best rising boy’s and girl’s high school basketball stars to showcase their skills on the national stage. In 2023, the events were held in Atlanta, GA and I had the privilege of outfitting these all-americans with Practice & Game Uniforms and more.
Annually, Elite 24 plays the closing role for UA Next's All-America events, as the program's Football & Volleyball events both take place much earlier in the year. Each summer, we expand on that established season's visual language into our Basketball program, while bringing a fresh & unique look to the brand's No.1 Grassroots sport, using our pinnacle catalog uniforms as the canvas.
Aside from the player's Practice reversible & Official Game Uniforms, design was further amplified through player exclusive event apparel and additional graphics components included in environmental signage, social promo, and court floor design.

Under Armour ICON Curry 1 – Maryland Terps "100 Seasons" Player Exclusives (2019)
The UA ICON Curry 1 Maryland 100’s are an ode to the history of Terps Men's basketball. Loud and colorful (as Maryland is known for) graphics splash across the upper, each telling a story more interesting than the last... and I had to work my favorite Icey Soles into these!
Definitely one the coolest projects I've worked on… Maryland really let me do my thing with this one! And I'm excited any time I get to work with Footwear.

Overall, I had the chance to be involved with various tasks including trend analysis, research & development, design presentations, product collections and team identity systems for the NBA, NHL, CFL, MLS, other sports leagues + Hot Market Accounts.
Throughout my duration, I contributed design ideas and concepts for new Team Identity projects and new product designs across various Mens & Womens categories for the Adidas, Reebok, CCM and Logo Athletic brands.

Healthy Hoops London
Healthy Hoops is a London, UK based program for Youth between the ages of 9-11, with a focus on combining a healthy lifestyle and playing team basketball. It takes place in the inner-city borough of Barking & Dagenham and sponsored by the Barking & Dagenham (BAD) Thunder Basketball Club and London's The Big Lotto Fund.
I was asked to create an illustration for a shirt based off of a unique character-based illustrative style previously rendered by Nike Sports. My task was to do this with a Twist... incorporating inspiration from the current BAD Thunder brand, a healthy diet & lifestyle (fruits/vegetables), and all of the characters would have to revolve around Basketball, which in the previous rendition was only one character worth. The project was fun, the shirts turned out great and more importantly, the "Healthy Hoops" program was a success!

New basketball branding for Chadwell Heath Academy (London, England). This exclusive basketball branding is used specifically in basketball programme-related marketing and Center Court at their facilities.
CURRY CAMP® 2022
Following a two-year hiatus, Steph Curry’s hands-on training camp for the top high-school basketball players in the country returned in San Francisco, CA. With Curry Camp being a footwear fueled event, a camp-specific Reversible Uniform Set & Shooting Shirts were designed to connect with the footwear specific digital camo in his latest Curry 1 Flotro sneaker.
CURRY® What's GOOD, Harlem? (2021)
In October 2021, CURRY Brand & the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) hosted a special neighborhood celebration for the Harlem, New York community to commemorate the refurbishing of famed NYC Playground, Holcombe-Rucker Park. As a part of the festivities, the top boys/girls players from NYC, faced off against the top players from Under Armour's Team Curry and I had the role of outfitting both teams in special edition Game Uniforms & Shooting Shirts.

My first time visiting NYC, my brother DerRon & I made it a point to visit an empty Rucker Park from our downtown hotel in blistering 5 degree weather in the middle of February's NBA All-Star weekend... that's how much we revered The Rucker! So awesome to see the renovation of this Streetball Mecca and have the Unis I worked on be the first to grace the new court.
The following is part of a collection of work from my stint as 2012-13 Design Apprentice with Adidas Sports Licensed Division’s at Reebok HQ in Canton, MA. Throughout my duration, I engaged in trend analysis, research & development, design presentations and graphic design projects for the NBA, NHL, MLS, CFL and our Hot Market Accounts. I also contributed design ideation and concepts for new Team Identity projects, as well as product & uniform design across various Mens & Womens categories for the Adidas, Reebok, CCM and Logo Athletic brands.
As part of a Hot Market objective, I was given the opportunity to design the back graphic for the 2013 NBA Championship Ring Ceremony Track Jacket. The prospective 2013 contenders designed into: Miami Heat, OKC Thunder, San Antonio Spurs, Chicago Bulls & LA Clippers (determined by Top 5 win/loss records at mid-season).
Ultimately, the Miami Heat would win their 1st Back-to-Back NBA Titles and 3rd title in franchise history. This Jacket would be worn on-court by the Heat players & staff on the following season's opening night pre-game ring ceremony in Miami (Oct. 29, 2013). The Adidas NBA Championship Ring Ceremony Collection also included a Swingman Jersey, Climalite Tee and three different hats.
DRAFT PACKS™ was a premium clothing brand delivering Nostalgia and celebrating Sports Culture. As a joint venture between the brand made a name for itself in Sportswear & Lifestyle Apparel. The Motto: LEGENDS ONLY.
As one part of a joint venture, my role was Creative Director, Graphic Designer and Marketer. Apparel/product development, photography and videography was provided by my partner Jonathan Durden.
A collection of various apparel graphics and pattern exploration completed for The Ohio State University through J.America Licensed Sportswear in Columbus, Ohio (2013 - 2014). This apparel was found locally for retail through university bookstore & online channels.
Designed during my stint with Adidas Sports Licensed Division... this one's special because it was my very 1st Uniform in the industry!
The CFL is well-known for their uniforms being rooted in tradition and the 2014-15 Reebok x CFL Signature collection was the first time the league decided to go outside that box and aim for a fun & modern approach for each team. Thanks to my SLD team, I was given the keys to the Saskatchewan Rough Riders Uniform, quickly grabbed my Sharpies, markers & sketch pad and went to work.
Fast, bold and exciting, this new uniform was designed to capture the spirit and energy of Rider Nation. Using traditional Rider green as its core and highlighting that iconic color with a new Blitz green, this modern addition to a classic look delivered a new energy to game day.
Special sublimated twill numbers showcase the “wheat to sky” pattern inspired by the city's vast wheat fields (Canada's largest wheat producer). Combined with new carbon gray pants and topped by a wheat pattern wrapped Helmet, the new signature uniform is unlike anything in the 100+ year history of the Roughriders.
This Uniform was worn on-field in 2014 & 2015 seasons and available at retail.
Nike NVP Sports Drink: a conceptual brand extension for Nike, Inc. into the sports drink/athletic beverage market.
MFA Project in Design Thinking course involved the following: Brand research, market & consumer research (quantitative & qualitative), product development (ideation, sketches, renderings to orthographics & 3D Models), business planning and distribution strategy.

Jalen's Room is a family project that came about from my cousin wanting to do something special for the Birth of his soon-to-come 1st Born Son. Being the huge basketball fan that he is, he asked me to paint a giant basketball (orange wall + black lines) on one of the walls in his son's bedroom. After some discussion and quick sketches, I convinced him that we could still do the simple basketball idea, but find a way to incorporate the wall with the rest of the space, which were all Sky Blue walls.
After sketching & stenciling things out, we both painted the following over about a week and a half in early October and the finished product was something we were both proud of for the latest addition to our Family!

This collab with Hall of Fame head coach, Dawn Staley, and her coaching staff was definitely one of my favorite projects of the last 2 years... I had the chance to interview a LEGEND and create something dope for her squad that spoke to both her taste and the teams undeniable swag. I've been antsy about this release for months... just glad it's hear & the Fans love it!
